LOBSTER and trap fishing becomes more profitable when you attach Ecobuoy as a bobber 2 or 3 meters above your pot, keeping your retrieval line from wrapping around the trap. You can now see the trap’s position under you and you can place the pot in that hole or at the top or bottom of the cliff.

NETS are nearly always lost behind you on that rock or reef. With Ecobuoy’s attached to your net it is a simple task to retrace your path and with a grappling hook drag between the Ecobuoy’s. Another expensive net saved to fish another day.

LINE.Attaching Ecobuoy to your line anchor and/or 20 meters from the start gives you an accurate area to grapple should you lose you’re marker buoy.

GHOST fishing is a serious environmental problem that occurs when some types of fishing gear is lost!Lost nets and longlines pose serious threats to endangered and protected marine mammals. Fish in traps can become bait for the next fish which also becomes bait and so on. Ghost fishing can kill fish for years with no benefit to anyone.

Retrieval of lost fishing gear stops ghost fishing and reduces replacement cost of gear to the fishermen. These days most fishermen have a GPS and sonar equipment at their disposal and mark on the GPS where long lines, traps or nets are placed or lost. Dragging the bottom with a grappling hook in the GPS marked position is common
and damages the sea floor. This dragging only sometimes achieves retrieval. Attaching recently invented low cost Ecobuoy to the fishing gear on say a 2m line will allow the fishermen to see the exact position by the fish symbol appearing on his sonar screen relevant to his boat and the lost equipment. Simply attach another Ecobuoy 2m above the grappling hook and move the boat until the two fish symbols coincide.
