Ecobuoy, a passive sonar reflector Patent Application no.2006900750

Ecobuoy is distinctly recognized by the diagnostic software of all sonar that can see fish.
If you set Ecobuoy at a certain tether length,Ecobuoy shows on your screen as a large stationary fish the tether length from the bottom.
Two Ecobuoy’s at different lengths increases this distinction.

The overall shape continues Ecobuoy’s function as pressure increases with depth.
The void in Ecobuoy mimics a fish buoyancy bladder and the material mimics fish flesh.
The 90 degree reflective pits enhance the signal back to the boat transducer.

Material; combination of  P.E. ,E.V.A., color and U.V.inhibitors.
Blow molded with a positive pressure of 30lbs/sq.in.

Buoyancy; No more than 2kg at all depths.
Drag; No increase in load/buoyancy at any water movement up to 10 kts.
Angle from tether point increases by 8 deg. for every one kt. of water movement.

Depth; During development we initially tested Ecobuoy to 90m.
Testing function over depth we rely on underwater operators to give us feedback.
Recently in a successful trawler net recovery Ecobuoy operated at 700m.
Please, should you operate Ecobuoy at greater depths than 700m. let us know.
